GARDENING COMPETITION

Building of the success of last year's initial competition we will be running this competition again during the spring of 2018 and if your school would like to enter please contact Lion Jackie Culliford on 0845 833 9547.

In 2017 Shirley Lions organised and co-ordinated a gardening competition for Infant and Junior schools in Shirley. The aim of the competition is to support gardening projects in our schools. With more and more gardens disappearing from Britainís streets, hopefully we can also inspire today's school children to take up gardening outside of their school.

The entrants in the different categories were :-

Infants School Category

Streetsbrook Infants and Early Years Academy

Woodlands Infants School

Cranmore Infants School

Monkspath Primary School (Infants)

Junior School Category

Haslucks Green Junior School

Monkspath Primary School ( Juniors )

The gardens were judged by Miles Butterworth from Notcutts Garden Centre who was awarded the accolade of "Garden Centre Ambassador of the year 2016"  At this year's Shirley Carnival Miles announced the winners of each category and presented them both with a £100 Garden Voucher. All the entrants were presented with a certificate and a "Shirley Lion"
