Gardening Competition

A new activity for Shirley Lions in 2017 has been to organise and .co-ordinate a gardening competition for Infant and Junior schools in Shirley. The aim of the competition is to support gardening projects in our schools. With more and more gardens disappearing from Britainís streets, hopefully we can also inspire today's school children to take up gardening outside of their school.

The entrants in the different categories were :-

Infants School Category

Streetsbrook Infants and Early Years Academy

Woodlands Infants School

Cranmore Infants School

Monkspath Primary School (Infants)

Junior School Category

Haslucks Green Junior School

Monkspath Primary School ( Juniors )

The gardens were judged by Miles Butterworth from Notcutts Garden Centre who was awarded the accolade of "Garden Centre Ambassador of the year 2016"  At this year's Shirley Carnival Miles announced the winners of each category and presented them both with a £100 Garden Voucher. All the entrants were presented with a certificate and a "Shirley Lion"
